Welcome to WDA.SG, a chapter of the WDA Asia Pacific.

We are an inclusive non-profit organization in Singapore dedicated to the advancement and advocacy of dance in all its forms and discourses, from its art form to its sciences and allied wellness disciplines. We believe that dance is essential in a civil society, not only as a form of physical activity, but in the prevention of disease and in building a stronger, cohesive and diverse community.

Who We Are
MUHAMMAD FAIRUL AZREEN B MOHD ZAHID
President
Fairul Zahid is a multifaceted dance artist, choreographer, and educator with extensive experience in various dance disciplines. As a Principal Dancer/Choreographer at ASK Dance Company, he has collaborated with local and international artists, producing numerous full-length and mixed-bill performances that have toured globally.
​
Fairul has taught dance at several local universities in Malaysia, including the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage, and University A (UiTM), as well as international universities such as MINZU University (Beijing), Beijing Dance Academy, University of Philippines, and Temple University Philadelphia.
​
A prolific and versatile choreographer/dancer, Fairul has performed in various festivals and competitions, earning awards and recognition for his work. His accolades include winning the National Ballet Competition, Best Modern Dance at the Shansa Awards, and the prestigious Star Scholarship from the Sime Darby Foundation to pursue his MFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

Fairul's work has been recognized internationally, with awards such as the Cameronian Arts Award for Best Group Performance (2018), MASDANZA Prize for Yokohama Dance Collection Japan (2023), and nominations for the Boh Cameronian Arts Awards and 1st APPEAL (2024).
​
Currently, Fairul is a Dance Lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore and is pursuing his PhD in Dance Choreography (Practice Research) at University Technology MARA (UiTM).

GIANTI GIADI
Vice-President
Gianti Giadi is a choreographer, a performing artist and the owner & artistic director of Gigi Art of Dance Studio, Company and foundation in Jakarta, Indonesia since 2009.
​
She teaches for 4 years at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore after her graduation & invited back to choreograph for their graduation show in 2018 & 2023.
​
Her choreographies are showcased in different events such as concerts, site-specific performances, Ad/commercials, contemporary festivals and musicals in Indonesia, Singapore, Phillipines, Malaysia, USA, and Europe.
​
Her work explores on the theme of human life through storytelling, emotional journey and body experience. She enjoys creating multidisciplinary works that speaks about social, personal and environmental issues.
​
She has dedicated her life to provide platforms for youth to find their voices to advocate, express and find their superpower through performing arts for the past 16 years including an inclusive program for Down Syndrome & special needs for the past 11 years.
​
She believe through performing arts, she is able to give a positive impact for the young generations and make a change in the society.

LI RUIMIN
Secretary
Li Ruimin graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Dance, majoring in Chinese Dance. She furthered her studies at the Beijing Dance Academy College of Continuing Education. Ruimin is a recipient of the Singapore National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Overseas). Upon graduation, she performed with CIE and collaborated with Ismael Ivo (DE/BR) in Biblioteca Do Corpo in Vienna and Brazil. She was also a member of the Asia Dance Company.
​
Ruimin served as a senior dancer with the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, where she performed lead female roles in numerous dance dramas. Additionally, she has participated in various ASEAN exchange projects, representing Singapore with her expertise in both cultural and contemporary dance.
​
A skilled choreographer and performer, Ruimin has created many original works that have been presented both locally and internationally. She has won multiple gold awards in dance competitions for her performances and choreography. Currently, Ruimin is a dance lecturer at Singapore Raffles Music College (Dance Faculty) and continues to work as an Independent Dance Artist, focusing on choreography, performance, and education.
